Hearing Modernity Sounds connect. As more and more scholars awaken to the significance of sounds around us, we invite you to join us for an interdisciplinary exploration of the cultures of sound as part of the 2013/14 John E. Sawyer seminars at Harvard University, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon foundation. During the eight discussion sessions and concluding event that make up the seminar series “Hearing Modernity,” we will give ear to the significance of sound in modern society and the cultural, historical, and scientific contexts in which it resonates most strongly.
